World Environment Day

All the staff and students are contributed to the environment on the occasion of World Environment Day on 05 June 2024 by,
i) Using public transport /Bicycle/Vehicle pooling and
ii) “WAH!” Day. Because Wrinkles Achhe Hain! (WAH) as a green day.

World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5th, is a global platform for raising awareness and encouraging action for environmental protection. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 and first observed in 1974, it has grown to become the largest global environmental event, engaging governments, businesses, civil society, and individuals in over 150 countries.

All the staff and students actively participated and executed the team work. The theme for World Environment Day 2024 is “Restoring Ecosystems.” This theme underscores the urgent need to repair the damage inflicted on ecosystems by human activities and emphasizes the crucial role that restored ecosystems play in achieving sustainable development. Ecosystem restoration can take many forms: growing trees, greening cities, changing diets, or cleaning up rivers and coasts.

The climate clock shows time left till we reach 1.5o C global warming
Irreversible climate change will happen after that
Each one of us is responsible, and we need to ACT NOW!

The climate clock serves as a visual representation of the urgency of the climate crises, highlighting the limited amount of time left to act and the need for immediate and decisive action.
Climate clock shows the time left before the planet touches 1.5o C of global warming, with this global warming the climate scientist estimates that the change in climate will start to become irreversible and by 2o C of global warming, it will be completely irreversible.
It provides a sense of urgency and a call to action reminding that time is running out and immediate actions are required to address the climate crises.

Awareness on conservation of energy

On the eve of National Energy Conservation day Jain College of Engineering, took a pledge to give awareness program at nearby schools, and all the department coordinators are actively participated in the program, each department had chosen one school and completed the program.
Our students briefed about the following points in the awareness program, along with this all the teachers of that school undergone through Energy Literacy Training (ELT) certificate course.

Environmental Impact:
Energy conservation directly contributes to reducing our carbon footprint and minimizing the environmental impact of energy production. By using energy more efficiently, we can decrease harmful emissions and help combat climate change.
Resource Preservation:
Our planet’s finite resources are under constant pressure. Conserving energy means using resources wisely, ensuring a more balanced and sustainable use of non-renewable fuels and materials.
Economic Benefits:
Energy conservation not only protects the environment but also offers economic advantages. Businesses and individuals can save on energy costs, leading to financial savings and improved economic sustainability.
This program started from 27th December and many Govt. schools are covered and Head Master of the school has appreciated the effort of our students and shown kind gesture with appreciation letter to the college.

“Shaktipurn Bharat”- Igniting India’s Journey to 2047 A Poster Presentation Competition on 11th November 2023

On the occasion of “National Education Day” A Poster Presentation Competition was held on Saturday, November 11th 2023 at 10am in the JCE campus. The theme given for the competition was “Shaktipurn Bharat”- Igniting India’s Journey to 2047. It was an opportunity for students to make and display colorful posters.
The event was conducted under the banner of Energy Literacy Cell (ELC) JCE, Belagavi in association with Student Engagement Cell (SEC) and Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). Principal & Director Dr. J Shivakumar, inaugurated the event and congratulated the whole ELC team, for colorful/successful conduction of the event. Prof. Laxmi. B. welcomed the gathering, Prof. Akshata Patil proposed vote of thanks
Students participated in large in number, and displayed different ideas on energy saving, renewable energy, by attractive colorful posters.
Dr. Vidya S Dandagi and Prof. Ashok N. Joshi were the judges for the competition. The competition was coordinated by ‘Energy Literacy Cell’ JCE Belagavi.
