LIBRARY COMMITTEE

The Library Committee at Jain College of Engineering (JCE) plays a vital role in managing the college library, ensuring it meets the informational and research needs of students and faculty. Here are some key aspects [1][8]:

  • Library Resources: The library offers a vast collection of books, journals, and digital resources, including online databases and e-journals.
  • Library Services: The committee oversees various services, such as reference assistance, interlibrary loans, and access to digital resources.
  • Library Events: The committee may organize events, workshops, and training sessions to promote information literacy and research skills.

Key Objectives:

  • Collection Development: Building a comprehensive collection of resources that support the curriculum and research needs of the college community.
  • Information Literacy: Promoting information literacy skills among students and faculty, enabling them to effectively locate, evaluate, and use information.
  • Library Facilities: Ensuring the library provides a conducive learning environment, with adequate seating, study spaces, and technology infrastructure.

The Library Committee works to create a vibrant learning environment that supports academic excellence and research at JCE.

Library Rules & Regulations

  • Identity Card (ID) is compulsory for getting access to the library and attendance.
  • All the staff & students must compulsorily check in the library by scanning their ID Card & check out while leaving.
  • Silence to be maintained in the library.
  • No discussion permitted inside the library.
  • The library can be utilized by the students and staff from 8.15 am to 6 pm. On working days.
  • Membership should be done to become a library member prior to using the library resources.
  • No personal belongings allowed inside the library.
  • Textbooks, printed materials and issued books are not allowed to be taken inside the library.
  • Documents taken out of the shelves must be left on the table. Replacing the documents on shelves by users is not encouraged as the documents may get misplaced.
  • Using Mobile phones and audio instruments with or without speaker or headphone is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • The books shall be issued to students for 15 days after which the same must be returned.
  • If the books are not returned on the due date, an overdue charge @ Rs.2 per book per day will be charged for the period, the books are kept beyond the due date.
  • The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately
  • Books will be reissued for not more than two times. After that the borrower must return the book(s).
  • Reference books, journals / periodicals, magazines/newspapers and other documents declared “For Reference” by the Librarian will not be issued.
  • A Book Bank facility for SC/ST students available in the library. Students produce their caste certificate to avail this facility.
