
AICTE-ATAL Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Emerging Trends in AI for Intelligent Waste Management in Smart Cities” from 15th to 20th September 2025.
 The Department of Civil Engineering, Jain College of Engineering, Belagavi, successfully organized a one-week AICTE-ATAL Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Emerging Trends in AI for Intelligent Waste Management in Smart Cities” from 15th to 20th September 2025. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. B. E. Rangaswamy, Registrar (Evaluation), VTU, and Guest of Honor Professor K. V. Jayakumar, Visiting Professor-cum-Outreach Advisor, Civil & Infrastructure Engineering, IIT Dharwad, under the presidentship of Dr. J. Shivakumar, Principal & Director, Jain College of Engineering, Belagavi. The event was coordinated by Dr. Sanjeev Sangami, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, along with Mr. Shashank U. Vanakudari, Assistant Professor, as the Co-Coordinator. The FDP aimed to provide faculty and researchers with comprehensive knowledge of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into intelligent and sustainable waste management systems for smart cities. Renowned resource persons from various IITs, NITs, and government organizations delivered expert lectures and hands-on sessions covering AI-based waste segregation, IoT-enabled smart systems, and data-driven decision-making for urban sustainability. The valedictory session was graced by Dr. Suresh Babu Pasupuleti, Deputy Director, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India, who appreciated the efforts of the department and participants for making the event successful. Certificates were distributed to all participants who actively engaged throughout the sessions, marking the conclusion of a highly informative and impactful FDP.
