Jain College of Engineering Belagavi (JCE) organized Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Next Generation Energy Technologies” on 12th and 13th October, sponsored by TEQIP 1.3 in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, in association with VTU Belagavi.

 

The inauguration ceremony was held in the closed auditorium of JCE. Head of the EEE department Dr. G H Kulkarni, welcomed the Chief Guest of the function Er. Giridhar Kulkarni (Superintendent Engineer, Operation and Maintenance Circle, HESCOM, Belagavi and Chikkodi), President of the function Prof. R.G. Dharwadkar (Senior Director, JGI)) and Principal and Director Dr. K.G. Vishwanath. The program started with the invocation song by 5th semester students. All the dignitaries in the dais lighted the lamp.

 

The delegates in the program were from premier institutions and industries across India for an intensive exposure to research, teaching and developing cases. The keynote speaker Dr. Dattatraya N Gaonkar, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, dealt with the first session. Research forum special sessions were deliberated by the panel Members, Dr. Uday Wali, Dr. G H Kulkarni and Dr. D.B. Kulkarni during which include talks on “State of art technologies on contemporary research”.

Dr. Sarit Ratadiya, Senior Engineer – Electric Drives, Power Electronics and Controls from GE Transportation Systems –A Wabtec Company addressed the post lunch session on “Developoment of New Energy Technologies in Corporate Environment”.

Dr. Suresh Mikkili, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, National Institute of Technology GOA, deliberated a lecture on “Power quality issues and solutions and usage of MATLAB for analysis”.

Former Chief Engineer (HESCOM) and Director Prakash Kumar described about the “Recent trends and challenges in Distributed Generation”.

In house expert, Dr. G H Kulkarni, Professor and Head, Dept. of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, is intended to speak on “Integrated Resource planning in reference to Indian context”.
